Training Session on Privacy in the Workplace

In my Organizational Communication class, we were assigned to create a 30-minute training session on privacy in the workplace. We were in a group of 5 individuals to teach, train, run a participative activity, and carry out a debriefing session. The challenge with this activity was to engage the audience in a dialogue about our topic. My group didn’t want to focus on the typical social media aspect, so we focused on the privacy of health conditions and relationships within the workplace. My main premise was on the personal health conditions. I also did most of the designing and layout of the presentation. We did have a few struggles along the way like scheduling complications, but in the end everything worked out great. I was able to facilitate the group, so everyone would remember to finish their piece for the presentation. I learned from this assignment that everyone’s not always on the same level of commitment when it comes to group projects. However, sometimes a little encouragement can change the minds of others. This training session has educated me more about the challenges that can arise in an organization. I have learned to focus on issues that are not just on an individual level but look out at the bigger picture to accomplish the main goal.
